New Delhi, April 28 (IANS) A 30-year-old woman scientist employed at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) here committed suicide on Thursday by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her government flat, police said.
Puja Rai was found hanging at her flat, located inside the campus of the institute in west Delhi's Pusa Road area. She was spotted when her brother arrived there along with her husband and mother around 9 a.m.
"Prima facie it seems to be a case of suicide. We have recovered a suicide note from the spot in which she did not blame anyone for her suicide act," Deputy Commissioner of Police Surender Kumar told IANS.
The officer said Rai, a resident of Ballia district in Uttar Pradesh, shifted to Gurgaon after her marriage with Amit Sharma, a businessman, in November 2015.
Rai's family members informed police that on visiting her flat on Thursday morning, as she did not respond to their phone calls since leaving from Gurgaon on Wednesday, they found her dead.
Police said Puja some times resided in her government quarter which she was to vacate by next month.
