New Delhi, April 27 (IANS) Delhi Water Minister Kapil Mishra on Wednesday directed all Delhi Jal Board (DJB) offices to keep pots filled with drinking water for thirsty birds and animals.
"All DJB installations should have a large drinking water bowl or utensil on their terrace or any other suitable location which is accessible to birds and animals," Mishra said in a directive issued to the board.
"The number of lakes and green spaces in the city has reduced considerably and with it the source of drinking water for animals and birds has come down drastically. Severely parched birds and animals in the summer are a heart wrenching sight. An immediate fix is required to ensure some drinking sources for them," he added.
