New Delhi, April 27 (IANS) The probe into the AgustaWestland chopper deal will be brought to its logical conclusion and the Congress leadership should not worry about it, union Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy said here on Wednesday.

“New facts are coming up in the Agusta chopper deal issue. I want to assure them that the probe will be carried out thoroughly, considering all the facts, and would be brought to its logical conclusion,” Rudy said addressing mediapersons at Parliament House.

The Congress had earlier questioned why the government was not expediting the probe into the matter.

While Congress president Sonia Gandhi has termed the allegations against her as “baseless”, her political secretary Ahmed Patel too has denied involvement.

“The matter will be probed as thoroughly as they want it. They need not worry about it,” Rudy said.

The minister said the issue would soon be put before parliament.

He dismissed the Congress allegation that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had struck a deal with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi to free two Italian marines accused of killing Indian fishermen in exchange for information on the "Gandhi family".

“This is false and untrue,” Rudy said.

The BJP had on Tuesday targeted Sonia Gandhi and the previous United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government over the chopper deal following an Italian court's judgment.
