Mumbai, April 26 (IANS) Key Indian stock market indices, which opened lower on Tuesday, surged in the afternoon session following strong global cues.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was trading 109.30 points or 1.39 percent higher at 7,964.35 points.
The Sensex of the BSE, which opened at 25,604.92 points, was trading at 25,996.93 points (at 2.04 p.m.) in the afternoon session, up 318 points or 1.24 percent from the previous day's close at 25,678.93 points.
The Sensex touched a high of 26,023.55 points and a low of 25,549.05 points in the trade so far.
Good buying was observed in metal, auto, realty and banking sectors.
