EC shifts more policemen ahead of Bengal poll’s fifth phase

Kolkata, April 26 (IANS) The Election Commission has removed five police officers in South 24-Parganas in West Bengal, days ahead of the assembly polls in the district in the fifth phase, officials said on Tuesday.

Officers in charge of Jibantala, Panchasayar, Harwood Point Coastal police stations, sub-divisional police officer, Kakdwip and sub-inspector in Kasba were removed, officials said.

Fifty-three constituencies spread across the districts of South 24 Parganas, Kolkata and Hooghly will go to the polls in the fifth phase on Saturday.
