Ujjain, April 25 (IANS) Following several incidents of crime at the Simhastha Kumbh site here in Madhya Pradesh, police on Monday asked the pilgrims to be alert against any suspicious person.
"Inform the police if you find yourself being chased or stalked by any suspicious person," Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Manish Khatri said in his appeal to the pilgrims.
"Don't leave anything valuable in your parked vehicle. Report to the police anything that looks suspicious and is unclaimed," he added.
The police appeal comes after several incidents of crime in the first few days of the Simhastha Kumbh Mela that started here on April 22.
On Sunday, a 'sadhu' (religious ascetic) Tapasvi Giri was seriously injured in a murderous attack near Bhukhi Mata temple, according to the police.
Late Saturday night, a motorcade of sadhus was attacked at two places, resulting in damage to the vehicles.
There were also incidents of theft at the pilgrimage site.
On Sunday, some sadhus demonstrated against these incidents of violence and theft.
Monday is the third day of Simhastha Kumbh that will conclude on May 21.
