New Delhi, April 25 (IANS) Aficionados of Indian classical music were treated to mesmerising performances by the likes of Sunanda Sharma of Benaras Gharana and sarod player Pandit Tejendra Narayan Majumdar here.
"Legends of India", an organisation engaged in the promotion of Indian classical art forms, has been organising the series "Morning Raga" in collaboration with Sangeet Natak Akademi every month.
The concert featuring the aforementioned artistes and more was held at Meghdoot Auditorium at Mandi House here on April 24, read a statement.
The Sunday morning took off with singer Sunanda Sharma, who rendered Raga Jaunpuri and then a Tappa and Thumri, both in Raga Bhairavi with the ease of a master.
Sarod maestro Majumdar gave the already engrossed audience a new high with his superb recital in "Miya ki Todi", then "Lanka Dah Sarang", "Gaud Sarang" and concluded with a dhun.
He built the concert methodically and progressed slowly, showing glimpses of his decades of practice and then launched into full-volume improvisations.
The three-and-half-hour morning concert was an aural treat for the gathered music lovers.
