Odisha continues to boil under heat wave

Bhubaneswar, April 22 (IANS) Several parts of Odisha continued to reel under severe heat wave conditions with 15 cities including the state capital registering temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius on Friday.

Titlagarh town, in western Odisha, which had recorded 47 degree Celsius on Thursday registering country's highest temperature, continued to boil as mercury soared at 47.5 degree Celsius on Friday throwing normal life out of gear. Four places including Sonepur, Bolangir and Sundargarh recorded temperature above 46 degrees while capital Bhubaneswar registered 40.5 degree Celsius.

 

Bhubaneswar met department director Sarat Chandra Sahu said the heat wave would continue till April 23, and even though there may be decrease of temperature after it, the mercury would hover above 40 degree Celsius. He also said that there is possibility of thunderstorms in several parts of the state that would help in bringing down rising temperature.
