Kuala Lumpur, April 22 (IANS) The Malaysian government on Friday refuted the US allegations against its human rights record, saying the report was one-sided and unbalanced.
In a statement, the foreign ministry said the US's 2015 country report on human rights practices concerning Malaysia was "based on unsubstantiated information and relies primarily on sources whose objectivity is questionable", Xinhua news agency reported.
The allegations selectively imputed disrepute to the government of Malaysia and did not take into consideration its efforts to promote and protect human rights, the statement said.
Malaysia considered the report as a one-sided approach by the US that "ignores Malaysia's sovereign right to decide on its internal affairs", it said.
