Kerala BJP president has limited assets

Thiruvanthapuram, April 22 (IANS) Recently-appointed Kerala BJP chief Kummanem Rajasekheran has less than Rs.50,000 cash, owns a small plot of land and no vehicle, as per his statement of assets filed along with his nomination papers to the Vattiyoorkavu assembly constituency in the city.

The 64-year-old Rajasekheran, a bachelor and hailing from Ayymenem in Kottayam district, possesses 25.5 cents of land (just over 11,100 square feet), Rs.10,000 as cash in hand and Rs. 34,614 in the bank and shares worth Rs.5,100 in the party organ 'Janmabhoomi'.

He does not have any vehicle, loans or any case registered against him.

Rajasekheran, a staunch RSS activist, was a surprise choice for the post of president and his appointment was seen as way to bring the RSS closer to the state Bharatiya Janata Party unit as this time the party's national leadership is determined to open its account in the 140-member Kerala assembly, for which polling will be held on May 16.
