New Delhi, April 21 (IANS) At least 29 people, including a 10-year-old boy and two women, were injured as a major fire broke out in a scrap warehouse here on Thursday, fire and police officials said.
The incident was reported around 2.21 p.m. from Budh Vihar Phase-1 area in north Delhi and six fire tenders were sent to the spot, said a Delhi Fire Service official. "Firefighters are still trying to douse the blaze," the official added.
A police officer said that all the injured have been admitted in three different hospitals.
"No one reportedly died in the incident yet. Injured included the workers at the scrap godown and others around who were attempting to douse the fire."
The officer said the exact reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained.
Asked if any cylinder exploded inside the godown which caused the huge fire, the officer said: "Some cooking gas cylinders have been recovered from the spot but none of them exploded. It is a matter of investigation if the fire spread because of the leakage of gas from any one of these cylinders."
