Barcelona, April 21 (IANS) FC Barcelona revealed on Thursday the new design of the Camp Nou Stadium, in which the Catalan football club will invest an estimated 420 million euro ($475 million) to complete the renovation predicted to finish in 2020-21.
However, construction work will not start before the club reduces its debts from 328 million euro ($371 million) to 200 million euro ($226 million).
The model of the new Camp Nou, weighing 70 kg, was transferred from Japan and will be exhibited for club's members and fans in Sala Paris, right next to the stadium after being handed over in the presence of Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu and head coach Luis Enrique, reports Efe.
The new design was presented under the motto "New Camp Nou opens to the world" while the remodeling process is expected to start by next season.
According to the club's official website, the new stadium will have 105,000 capacity and boast a full range of services, fitting in perfectly with the surrounding Campus Barca, eliminating previous barriers to the neighbourhood and opening the facilities to the city through a new green space.
The Nikken Sekkei studio from Japan will be responsible for renovating the legendary Barca home ground.
