Ayesha Adlakha hopes to make a difference with her TV show

Mumbai, April 20 (IANS) Television actress Ayesha Adlakha, who plays a DJ in "MTV Girls On Top", is glad to be part of the TV show which celebrate girl power and attempts to shatter long-standing stereotypes.

She says one can do away with gender-based stereotypes from the world of DJing when more and more women decide to join the profession.

Ayesha plays role of Revati, and the upcoming sequence of the show this week will question gender-bias in DJing. As per the track, Revati will face a hard time in a DJ hunt, where she is the only girl participating.

"The only way to get this strata of Indian society to accept female DJs as a regular occurrence is enough people see enough female DJs doing enough. I know I am just one girl, in one DJing competition, but I intend to make a mark and leave an impression for generations to look back at for inspiration," Ayesha said in a statement.

A BBC Worldwide (BBCW) production, "MTV Girls On Top" highlight the journey of three girls who try to survive in Mumbai - dealing with job issues, love issues and also domestic issues.

Tagged as a dramedy, the show analyses various aspects of being an independent young woman in urban India through lenses of friendship, relationships, career, aspirations and even whims and fancies. It is aired on MTV channel.

The show also features Saloni Chopra and Barkha Singh.
