‘Walk of Hope’ reaches Jammu

Jammu, April 19 (IANS) A 7,500-km Kanyakumari-to-Kashmir "Walk of Hope" led by spiritual guru Sri M reached here on Tuesday.

Sri M and his followers offered prayers at the shrine of Peer Baba Kanju Sahib and then laid a wreath at the Jammu and Kashmir Police Martyrs Memorial at the railway station.

The Manav Ekta Mission, under the leadership of Jenab Mumtaz Ali, who is widely known as Sri M, has undertaken the 'padyatra' to promote peace and inter-faith harmony.

"The Walk of Hope is an initiative to restore the innate spirituality of the nation, rekindling true faith and rejuvenating the spirit of hope and oneness," it said in a statement.

Flagged off on January 12, 2015 at the Vivekanand Rock Memorial at Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu, the walk will conclude in Srinagar this month.

It will cover some 7,500 km across 11 states, spread over 500 days.

The walk has already covered Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana and Punjab.
