Modi arrives in Jammu and Kashmir

Jammu, April 19 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived here Tuesday on a daylong visit to Jammu and Kashmir.

A special plane carrying the prime minister landed at the technical area of Jammu airport around 9 a.m.

State Governor N.N.Vohra, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh and other senior officials of central and state governments received Modi at the airport.

From the technical area of Jammu airport, Modi flew in army's MI-17 helicopter to Katra town where a busy day-long schedule awaits him.

Vohra, Mufti and Singh are accompanying Modi to Katra.

The prime minister will address the convocation of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, formally inaugurate a 250-bedded super specialty state-of-the-art hospital and address a public rally.
