Los Angeles, April 19 (IANS) Filmmaker Juan Antonio Bayona has been announced as the director for the sequel to "Jurassic World".
"It's official! So excited to join the Jurassic Team!" Bayona wrote on Twitter following the announcement, reports aceshowbiz.com.
Colin Trevorrow, who directed "Jurassic World", was unable to sit behind the lens for the next instalment since he has signed on for "Star Wars: Episode IX".
He, however, will return as a producer and writer.
"Proud to collaborate with one of my favorite filmmakers on the next Jurassic adventure. JA Bayona, it's all yours," Trevorrow tweeted to welcome the new director.
Bayona is known for directing 2007's horror flick "The Orphanage" and 2012's true-story drama "The Impossible". His next feature film is called "A Monster Calls" starring Liam Neeson, Sigourney Weaver and Felicity Jones.
The second "Jurassic World" movie is scheduled for June 2018 release. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are expected to return for this new one.
