New Delhi, April 19 (IANS) Eight members of a gang involved in snatching mobile phones in different states and supplying their parts in China and Nepal have been arrested and 448 mobile phones recovered from them, a senior Delhi Police officer said on Tuesday.

The recovered phones include 310 iPhones, worth over Rs.2.5 crore.

The gang supplied the parts of stolen mobile phones to countries like China and Nepal through courier, Deputy Commissioner of Police Madhur Verma said.

Those arrested are Vicky, Nitin Kumar, Pawan Singh, Tarun Kumar, Rajeev Kumar (original name withheld), Mohit Batra, Rohan and Tarandeep Singh.

The accused were arrested in a three-day-long operation last week. "The operation is still on and further raids have been planned."

Police said Tarun supplied the stolen mobiles in Delhi's Gaffar Market while Rohan was a receiver of the stolen property. "Mohit and Tarandeep own sale counters in Gaffar Market and were involved in gang activities in the neighbouring countries."

"The gang dealt with stolen mobiles throughout India and even supplied parts of iPhones in China and Nepal through courier."

"Mohit and Tarandeep frequently travelled to Nepal to dispose of the stolen and robbed mobile phones," Verma said.
