Madrid, April 18 (IANS) Real Madrid's Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo has further entrenched himself in the lead of the scoring charts of La Liga football, after scoring his 31st goal this season against Getafe.
Ronaldo has increased the difference between him and FC Barcelona's Luis Suarez to four goals, while he still leads his rival Lionel Messi, who scored his 500th career goal this week, by eight goals.
Ronaldo's 31st goal was scored in Real Madrid's clash against Getafe at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez stadium which ended in a 5-1 win for Madrid. Madrid's French Karim Benzema also scored to raise his score to 22 goals and became the la Liga fourth highest scorer.
Meanwhile, Barcelona's Argentine star, Messi's 500th career goal came once he netted for Barcelona against Valencia in La Liga action on Sunday. However, his goal didn't help his team very much as it ended in a 1-2 defeat for Barcelona.
In the fifth position is Barcelona's Brazilian forward Neymar with 21 goals, while Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann is sixth with 20.
With 17 goals, Adrian Aduriz (Athletic Bilbao), Ruben Castro (Real Betis) and Borja Staff (Eibar) came in the sixth position.
The seventh position is occupied by Lucas Perez (Deportivo La Coruna) and Gareth Bale (Real Madrid) who have scored 16 goals each.
