Kolkata, April 18 (IANS) A police case has been initiated against actress and BJP candidate Locket Chatterjee for "disrupting the polls process" and showing "discourteous behaviour" to the polling personnel, the Election Commission said.
Chatterjee, contesting the West Bengal assembly election from Mayureswar of Birbhum district, where polling was held during the second phase of elections on Sunday, threatened the presiding officer of booth number 30 following allegation of rigging.
"An FIR has been lodged by the presiding officer and a case has been initiated against the BJP's candidate of Mayureshwari constituency for discourteous behaviour and disrupting the polling process for some extent," said additional CEO Dibyendu Sarkar.
Confronting the presiding officer of the booth, a fuming Chatterjee threatened to take him to task for "allowing rigging" and got the entire argument video-taped.
