London, April 18 (IANS) Scotsman David Moyes has shown interest in taking the helm at relegated Aston Villa next season, but reiterated on Monday that the English football club has not been in contact with him.
Nearly six months after being fired from Spanish side Real Sociedad, Moyes is still seeking a place on the bench and said he is interested in tackling the challenge of returning Aston Villa to the English Premier League in the 2016-2017 season, reports Efe.
The Scot, 52, who revealed that Villa had contacted him last fall when he was still heading Real Sociedad, is waiting for the club to set its budget for next season in the Championship, the second tier of English football, the BBC reported on Monday.
Despite his recent failure on the bench, Moyes remains one of the most respected coaches in the United Kingdom after having shone for more than a decade at Everton.
However, the favourite to sit on the bench of Villa next season is Englishman Nigel Pearson, who led Leicester City last season.
