Klein unimpressed with Kendall’s campaign for brand

Los Angeles, April 17 (IANS) Ace fashion designer Calvin Klein himself doesn’t think that reality TV personality Kendall Jenner was the best choice to model for the brand's recent campaigns.

Klein, who no longer has complete control over the brand, said that though Kendall might be a “lovely young woman”, having her in the campaign is not what he would have done personally, reports mirror.co.uk.

“You know, I’m really not that familiar with it. I’m honestly not. I’m sure she’s a lovely young woman. It’s not the kind of thing I would have done, even today," Klein said, while giving a nod to singer Justin Bieber's campaign for the brand.

“When I say I like Justin Bieber in the Calvin Klein Underwear campaign, it’s because I like him, not because he’s got millions of followers,” he added.

The designer also shared that now models are “paid for how many followers they have”.

“They’re booked not because they represent the essence of the designer, which is what I tried to do. They are booked because of how many followers they have online," Klein said.

"I don’t think that, long-term, is going to work. I don’t think that’s a great formula for success for the product you are trying to sell."
