Guwahati, April 16 (IANS) After days of hectic campaigning for the assembly polls, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is taking a much-needed break. He is visiting market places, shopping malls, friends' homes, and teeing off at a golf course.
The Congress leader is also meeting people at his official residence, and visiting bihutolis -- the venues for events related to Rongali Bihu, the most colourful festival of the state related to song and dance.
The chief minister on Saturday braved the inclement weather to visit the golf course at Narengi area in Guwahati around 8 a.m. Dressed in casuals, Gogoi was teeing off for quite some time.
On Friday, Gogoi visited bihutolis in Guwahati and interacted with many people at his official residence in Koinadhara.
The chief minister has also been dropping in at the residences of his friends and relatives.
After returning from the golf course, Gogoi on Saturday interacted with young and promising singer of "Indian Idol Junior 2" fame Nahid Afrin and her family, who turned up at his residence to greet him on the occasion of Rongali Bihu.
Gogoi discussed the finer nuances of singing with the young singer and wished her a bright future.
He took part in a photo shoot with her and even posed for a selfie.
At the Latasil bihutoli on Wednesday, Gogoi was seen grooving to the beat of dhol, pepa and gogona.
He also played the dhol, much to the delight of the dancers and audience alike.
On Thursday, he went to the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport to see off British royal couple Prince William and Kate after their two-day visit to the state.
On Sunday (April 17), accompanied by his wife Dolly Gogoi, he is scheduled to visit his home district Jorhat to spend time with his relatives and close friends.
He is likely to return on Tuesday before he takes off for Delhi on April 22 where he will stay for a couple of days.
