Kabul, April 14 (IANS) A highway police chief and his two bodyguards was killed on Thursday when assailants opened fire on his vehicle in Afghanistan's Takhar province.
"The police chief for highways linking Takhar to the neighbouring Kunduz province, Abdul Qahar Kharmabi was attacked and killed by unidentified armed men on a road in Farkhar district," a police spokesman told Xinhua news agency.
Two of his bodyguards were also killed in the attack, the official added.
