Polling ends in Bengal

Kolkata, April 11 (IANS) Polling came to an end on Monday evening in 31 assembly constituencies in the first phase of the West Bengal polls held across the three districts of West Midnapore, Bankura and Burdwan.

As per the Election Commission, over 71 percent turnout was recorded till 3 p.m. The voting percentage was 76 in West Midnapore, 70.80 in Bankura and 68 percent in Burdwan.

Of the 31 constituencies, 13 were in West Midnapore and nine each in Bankura and Burdwan districts.

However, there were long queues of people in a number of booths even after the scheduled end of polling.
