ACB raids in Chhattisgarh target 10 government officials

Raipur, April 9 (IANS) The anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Saturday raided the homes and other places linked to 10 senior government officials in Chhattisgarh to look for ill-gotten wealth, sources said.

The raids were conducted in Raipur, Bilaspur, Korba and Raigarh by a number of ACB teams on the places linked to the 10 officials, including Dayamani Minj, assistant director of State Civil Supplies Corporation and Hariram Sharma, joint director of the education department, they said.

Also searched were places linked to K.K. Chandrakar, registrar of Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University here, Anil Rahi, sub-divisional officer of water resources department, Arun Sharma, chief medical officer, and S.N. Pathak, an official of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.

 

During a raid at a place in Bilaspur, an official being searched threw out a cushion full of Rs.35 lakh in cash which was subsequently recovered by the ACB team, sources said.

Such raids usually take place to trace assets disproportionate to the known sources of income of a person.
