Five composite schools to come up in Jharkhand: Minister

Ranchi, April 8 (IANS) Five composite schools will be opened in Jharkhand, union Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani said on Friday.

"These schools will be opened in Ranchi, Palamau, Dumka, Chaibasa and Hazaribagh, with facilities on par with private schools. Bus services will also be provided to ferry students," she said at a function in Khuti district where she kicked off 'School Chalein, Chalayein Abhiyan 2016'.

She said no fee would be charged from poor tribal and Scheduled Castes students whose families' income was less than Rs.1 lakh per annum.

She said parents of students should be made part of the school management system so that lacuna in teaching could be brought to the notice of authorities.

On the occasion, Chief Minister Raghubar Das said the state government was planning to involve panchayats in schools' functioning to ensure proper management and monitoring.

He urged the union minister to help the state provide furniture in 30,000 schools lacking basic infrastructure. He said around two lakh children still don't go to school in the state.

"The state government has taken concrete step to appoint teachers and ensure quality education," the chief minister said.
