Delhi Police launches online licensing system on Friday

New Delhi, April 8 (IANS) The Delhi Police on Friday launched online licensing system for the citizens to improve "ease of doing business" and "service delivery" by simplifying the licensing process without diluting the legal requirements.

Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung launched the online licensing system at Raj Niwas in the presence of Delhi Police Commissioner Alok Kumar Verma and other senior officers.

One can now apply online for licenses of eating houses, hotels, guest houses, swimming pools, arms and other things.

"The system would enable citizens to apply for license from the comfort of their homes and they would be able to check the status of their application online. This would be a win-win situation for the department as well since it would reduce their repetitive manual work and give them more time for quality checks," an officer said.

The officer said the online system is the latest initiative by Delhi Police for ensuring "ease of doing business" and this would improve service delivery by simplifying the licensing process without diluting the legal requirements.

"The system has been designed, developed and implemented internally after consultation with all stake holders and I.T. experts," he said.

The officer also assured that the system has incorporated all the necessary safety features so the scanned documents (necessary for obtaining the license) can be submitted online.

The Delhi Police licensing unit is certified as an ISO 9001-2008 organization and deals in granting licenses for arms, explosives, restaurants, hotels, cinemas, press and casual performances.
