New Delhi, April 8 (IANS) Union minister Jitendra Singh on Friday asked Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Kalikho Pul to expedite the construction of Itanagar airport.
"Connectivity is a major issue in Arunachal Pradesh, as a result of which its scenic richness remains underutilised and tourist potential does not give the maximum benefit. There is a need to expedite the airport construction in Itanagar," the minister of state in the ministry of development of north eastern region said.
Another delayed project that Singh referred to was the setting up of the film and television institute in Arunachal, a ministry statement said.
Pul called on the union minister on Friday, their first meeting after Pul became the chief minister.
"Though Finance Minister Arun Jaitley announced the film institute in the last year's budget, formalities to identify and acquire land have not been finalised till date, due to which work could not start," said Singh.
