London, April 8 (IANS) FTSE 100 Index, the British benchmark stock market gauge, decreased by 0.40 percent, or 24.74 points, to close at 6,136.89 points.
Share price of Randgold Resources increased by 3.22 percent, topped the gainers of the blue chips on Thursday, Xinhua news agency reported.
Marks & Spencer Group, J Sainsbury, United Utilities Group and Next increased by 3.00 percent, 2.68 percent, 1.83 percent and 1.76 percent, respectively.
Berkeley Group Holdings led the top losers of the blue chips with a share price drop of 5.13 percent, following by Pearson (4.95 percent), Lloyds Banking Group (4.79 percent), Aviva (4.52 percent) and Taylor Wimpey (3.82 percent).
