Sushma congratulates Deuba on becoming parliamentary party leader

Kathmandu, April 6 (IANS) India's External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday congratulated Sher Bahadur Deuba on his election as the parliamentary party leader of the Nepali Congress.

Deuba, who is also the president of the Nepali Congress, was elected parliamentary party leader on Wednesday defeating Ram Chandra Poudel by 72 votes.

Sushma Swaraj spoke to Deuba immediately after he was elected.

During the telephonic conversation, Sushma Swaraj hoped that bilateral ties between India and Nepal will further strengthen during the tenure of Deuba as party president and parliamentary party leader, said Deuba's aide Bhanu Deuba.

Deuba told Sushma Swaraj that he and his party also want to cooperate with India in a better way and want to deepen bilateral ties.
