Ahmedabad, April 5 (IANS) At least 40 people were injured, three of them seriously, when a Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation bus fell off a bridge in Tapi district of Gujarat on Tuesday, officials said.
Though the speeding bus fell in water from a height of over 20 feet, miraculously nobody was killed.
According to transport superintendent, Surat region, D.C. Rajguru, the bus was going to Ahmedabad from Nijhar town of Tapi district when the accident occurred near Kathvad Patiya close near to the district headquarters when the driver suddenly lost control.
Most of the people sustained minor injuries and were discharged from a hospital in Vyara after primary treatment.
Three persons, including a woman and the bus driver, who were seriously injured, were rushed to the Government Civil Hospital in Surat, Rajguru said.
This is the second such accident involving a state transport bus during the last two months. On February 5, 44 people, including 20 women, were killed when an ST bus going from Navsari to Ukai fell off the bridge on Purna river near Supa village on Bardoli road in Surat district, also in south Gujarat.
