Manila, April 2 (IANS) A fire broke out on Saturday at a university campus in Philippines' capital Manila.
The blaze struck the Manila campus of the University of the East (UE) at around 9.35 a.m., and was declared under control as of 10.38 a.m., EFE news reported.
Fatima Felix of the Bureau of Fire Protection National Capital Region (BFP-NCR) said about 25 fire trucks were deployed to the area to extinguish the flames.
There were no immediate reports of casualties.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, but some reports have speculated that it was sparked by welding work in the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Building.
The CAS and university chapel were both severely damaged by the blaze.
