Vasco (Goa), April 1 (IANS) Debutants DSK Shivajians and hosts Salgaocar FC netted a goal each in the first half to play out a 1-1 draw in an I-League football clash at the Tilak Maidan here on Friday.
Baljit Sahni (25th minute) scored the opener for the visitors but Darryl Duffy's 30th minute strike made it 1-1 for the home side.
DSK is now sixth in the I-League standings with 13 points from 12 games, having won three, drawn four and lost five. While the Goan club are a place ahead in the fifth position with 13 points from 13 games, with three wins, four draws and six losses.
DSK started on a positive note, looking for an early goal and they got it with some incredible work by Haroon Amiri on the right to cut past defender Gurjinder Kumar and set up Sahni for an easy tap in of a goal to make it 1-0.
But just five minutes after the opening goal, the home side brought in the equaliser as Duffy buried the ball at the back of the net off Jackichand Singh's pass from the right after Calvin Mbarga powered the move from the flank.
From there on both sides went into first half with a 1-1 scoreline.
Coming into the second half, Salgaocar made some positive attempts to go ahead in the game but was denied by a strong DSK defence.
Both the teams failed to find another goal in the match henceforth.
DSK will next face Bengaluru FC on April 6 while Salgaocar will take on Aizawl FC on April 11.
