Patna, March 31 (IANS) A jailed legislator, Anant Singh, on Thursday took oath as member of the Bihar assembly, over four months after he was elected to the house as an Independent member.
Anant, jailed in a kidnapping-murder case, was brought from the Beur Central Jail after permission from the Patna High Court for the oath-taking.
"I still accept Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar as my leader. He was my leader yesterday and remains even today. But Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad is not my leader. He is convicted in the multi-crore fodder scam and I am in jail," he told the media here.
Anant Singh quit the ruling Janata Dal-United and contested the 2015 assembly polls as an Independent from his traditional Mokamah constituency in Patna district and won.
However, he could not take oath as he was in jail.
Anant Singh was arrested in June 2015. He and his bodyguard were named accused in the kidnapping of builder Raju Singh.
