Jammu, March 29 (IANS) Jammu and Kashmir Governor N.N. Vohra on Tuesday requested union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to immediately release funds including Rs.800 crore to provide interest subvention to traders who suffered heavy losses in 2014 floods, an official statement said.
In a letter to Jaitley, Vohra sought the minister's intervention to get released Rs.800 crore for providing interest subvention to the traders and business enterprises who were adversely affected by the floods as well as release of the last installment of the state's share in the central taxes (2015-16), Rs.649 crore due as the last installment under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and Rs.305 crore under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.
It said Vohra thanked the finance minister for releasing Rs.1,194 crore for disbursement of relief to the flood-affected house owners and informed him that as of now almost Rs.1,000 crore have been disbursed to the entitled persons.
