Timeless Digital Awards to honour evergreen film stars

Mumbai, March 29 (IANS) To appreciate evergreen Hindi movies and their timeless stars, a new concept of online awards called Timeless Digital Awards is being launched, enabling viewers to be the jury and vote for their favourite nominees across various categories.

The TV channel Sony MAX 2 will honour actors and legends behind the camera as well on a digital wall of fame across their social media pages on April 11.

The digital awards will be held through a especially curated micro-site where viewers will get a chance to vote from across 11 diverse categories for the Most Versatile Actor, Most Versatile Actress, Best Jodi, Popular Villain, Best Comedian, Best Singer Male and Female, Most Iconic Character, Best Director, Best Screenwriter and Best Composer.

Voting lines will be open for users from March 28 to April 8.

The winners of Timeless Digital Awards will be adjudged on the basis of maximum user votes and honoured on a digital wall of fame across the channel's social media pages on April 11, 2016.

To participate, the users will have to login via social media websites like Facebook, Twitter or a verified email ID. Voters will get a chance to win daily online retail vouchers by voting, where they also have to give a description of why they are voting for that particular person.

As another activity, a magical selfie contest will run on the micro-site where users will have to upload a picture posing like their favourite actor with a retro look on Instagram using the hashtag "MagicalSelfie".

"Sony MAX 2 has been conceptualised as a contemporary place for great Indian cinema. We believe no matter what day and age, great stories, legends and music has eternal appeal. With MAX 2 'Timeless Digital Awards', we aim to bring together like-minded viewers and honour the iconic stars and the people who were responsible for giving us these everlasting stories in the form of movies," Vaishali Sharma, senior vice president, marketing and communications, MAX 2 said in a statement.
