Ghaziabad, March 28 (IANS) The celebrations that followed India's victory over Australia in the World Twenty20 cricket tournament proved costly for a Ghaziabad family which lost all its household goods packed in a truck after it caught fire.
Sunil Kumar's family shifted on Sunday night to a newly bought flat in Raj Nagar Extension here.
When their truck reached the colony with their household goods around 10 p.m., the residents were celebrating India's six-wicket win by exploding firecrackers.
The truck was parked in a passage near the lift so that the goods could be carried easily.
A firecracker landed on the truck, setting fire to a mattress. In no time, the truck was ablaze. Before the fire tenders could reach the spot, all the household items were burnt.
