Robber killed in squabble over loot, another injured

New Delhi, March 27 (IANS) A member of robbers' gang was killed and another injured by their associates after a disagreement over sharing the proceeds of a burglary committed earlier this month turned violent, police said on Sunday.

The deceased, identified as Mukesh, in his 20s and his friend Kanhaiya, both residents of Rithala in outer Delhi, were reportedly attacked and stabbed by three-four others on Saturday night in Dwarka area of west Delhi.

"During initial investigation, we had found that Mukesh, Kanhaiya and the others gathered in Dwarka Sector 23 to resolve their issues over distribution of money they have looted from a house in the area on March 2," Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) R.A. Sanjeev told IANS.

The assailants, believing Mukesh and Kanhaiya to be dead, bundled them in a car and tried to find out a secluded place to dump the bodies.

"They got frightened after they saw a PCR van standing at the roadside in Dwarka Sector 26 area, stopped their vehicle and fled the scene. Meanwhile Kanhaiya got conscious, managed to reach the driver's seat to drive it about 50 meters towards the PCR van and cried for help," said Sanjeev.

The policemen took Kanhaiya and Mukesh to a nearby hospital where doctors declared Mukesh dead while Kanhaiya is being treated.

"After investigation, we launched a search and arrested two accused, identified as Ajay and Deepak. A hunt is on to nab the absconding accomplices. In this connection we are conducting raids in Aligarh, Mathura and Agra," he said.
