Man threatens to blast Bihar policeman, court; arrested

Patna, March 26 (IANS) A man was arrested on Saturday for threatening to blast a court, jail and a police superintendent and his family in Bihar's Nalanda district if jailed RJD legislator Raj Ballabh Yadav, who is accused of raping a schoolgirl, was tortured in custody, police said.

Shailesh Kumar, who threatened Nalanda Superintendent of Police Kumar Ashish, was arrested from Islampur in the district.

"We arrested the man and seized his mobile phone and SIM card that he used to send SMS to threaten me, as well as to blast the jail and court," Ashish told the media.

He said police would investigate his relationship with the jailed legislator.

Early this month, Yadav had surrendered in a court in Nalanda after the Patna High Court refused to hear his anticipatory bail plea.

Yadav, who represents Nawada constituency in the assembly, was on the run after he was charged with raping a schoolgirl in Biharsharief, the district headquarters of Nalanda, on February 6.

According to the police complaint, a woman named Sulekha Devi took the girl to an undisclosed location in Nalanda and forced her to have liquor, after which she was raped by a man, later identified as Yadav.

After she was raped, the girl said the woman gave her Rs.30,000
