Agra, March 25 (IANS) The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to equip its traffic police force with drones to monitor the traffic movement and keep a vigil on criminals.
The drones would be able to cover city areas, with a battery backup of 40 to 45 minutes. The drones will be provided in 12 districts, with Agra the first among them.
Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Rajesh Kumar here said around Rs.10 lakhs is being spent "to develop the infrastructural arrangements to operate the drone assisted system. It will now be possible to keep a watch on political processions".
A demonstration was held here on Friday for officials from Paliwal Park to Agra Fort, from a height of around 400 metres, an official said.
