Jammu, March 25 (IANS) Leaders of alliance partners BJP and the PDP will call on Jammu and Kashmir Governor N.N. Vohra in the next two to three days, following a joint coordination committee meeting of the two allies here on Friday evening.
Sources said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders met here on Friday at the residence of BJP leader and former state minister Bali Bhagat.
"Senior leaders Muzaffar Hussain Beigh, Tariq Hameed Karra and Haseeb Drabu represented the PDP at the joint coordination committee meeting while BJP's state president Sat Pal Sharma, Jugal Kishore and Nirmal Singh were present.
"After the meeting, BJP leaders apprised BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav about their deliberations with PDP leaders," BJP sources told IANS.
The sources said the state presidents of the two parties will now call on the governor jointly to discuss government formation.
Vohra had called PDP president Mehbooba Mufti and state BJP president Sharma for separate meetings with him on Friday.
Following election of senior BJP leader Nirmal Singh as leader of the BJP legislature party earlier on Friday, Sharma told reporters that the two allies will seek a fresh appointment with the governor and call on him jointly.
Meanwhile, following the developments, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti also deferred her scheduled meeting with the governor.
A Raj Bhavan spokesman told the media that the Friday meetings of the state PDP and BJP presidents with Vohra could not take place and the two will now meet him after seeking a fresh appointment.
