Dentist killed in Delhi, eight held

New Delhi, March 25 (IANS) A 41-year-old dentist was beaten to death by a group of people here after a heated argument over a petty issue, police said on Friday.

The incident took place around 12.30 a.m. on Thursday in Vikaspuri area of west Delhi.

Police said the dentist has been identified as Pankaj Narang, who was dragged from his home and attacked by over 10 people with wooden sticks and bricks.

"We have arrested four people and apprehended four juveniles who were involved in the attack," a police official said. All the accused reside in Vikaspuri slums.

They were arrested by Thursday night.

After initial investigations, police found that Narang's son was playing cricket with him on Wednesday night, after India won the T20 World Cup cricket match against Bangladesh.

While playing in the balcony of their house, the ball hit a motorcycle rider passing by, which led to a heated argument.

The rider then called his friends and dragged the dentist from his home and beat him mercilessly with wooden sticks and bricks.

One of the relatives of the doctor reportedly tried to intervene, but was also attacked. The attackers fled from the spot before police could reach.
