Madrid, March 24 (IANS) Valencia is in talks with FC Barcelona to acquire the services of young Croatian midfielder Alen Halilovic, a media report said.
Halilovic, 19, is currently on loan to Sporting Gijon, as coach Luis Enrique does not feel he is ready for the Barcelona first team yet and is looking for the ideal team for the young Croatian to continue his growth, according to the daily Sport, adding that many Spanish teams are interested in Halilovic, reports Efe.
Meanwhile, Sevilla's sporting director Monchi told Sport "Halilovic is a top player. He has a lot quality and personality. At his age, at times he's carried Sporting on his back and that says a lot about him as a player."
Despite this, Sevilla has not yet made a move for the Croatian, which Valencia is eager to do.
According to the report, Barcelona is interested in doing a deal with an option to buy back the youngster and want 12 million euros ($13.4 million) for the player.
