Lucknow, March 24 (IANS) Two brothers drowned in the Indira Canal in Lucknow where they had gone to bathe after celebrating Holi, police said on Thursday.
The incident took place on Wednesday. Both the brothers were washed away by the strong current, and despite many police divers being pressed into service, they could not be found.
Superintendent of Police (Rural) Gopendra Yadav told IANS that the victims were identified as Manoj (30) and Ramesh (25), residents of Ramasrepurva in Gomtinagar.
Family members said they had gone with friends to Dream Valley, a water sports club in Gosaiganj, after playing Holi.
From there, they went to the Indira canal to wash off the colour.
Police said the possibility of the two being alive was negligible.
