Brussels, March 22 (IANS) The Belgian football squad's training was suspended as a result of the terrorist attacks that occurred on Tuesday morning at Brussels Airport and in the metro, killing about 28 people and injuring dozens.
The training session was scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at the King Baudouin stadium in preparation for the friendly match to be played next Tuesday against Portugal, in preparation for the Euro 2016 in France, reports Efe.
"#tousensemble, our thoughts are with the victims. Football is not important today. Training cancelled," said the Royal Belgian Association on its Twitter account.
The association did not specify however, whether the game will be played as scheduled.
On last November 17, the friendly scheduled for the next day between Belgium and Spain at the King Baudouin stadium was cancelled due to a high risk of attack while Belgian authorities were still in pursuit of the terrorist Salah Abdeslam, arrested recently in the Belgian capital for his alleged involvement in the attacks in Paris last November.
Several players of the Belgian team showed their sympathy for the families of the victims through their personal accounts on Twitter.
