Indian e-commerce sites warming up to Holi

New Delhi, March 21 (IANS) With Holi just round the corner, e-commerce companies are busy making their own ideas on how to cash in on this festival fever.

"This year Holi is followed by Good Friday, making it the longest weekend of the year. There has been a substantial increase in users searching for travel discounts on shoppirate.in. Along with this, there are other Holi offers which users are taking advantage of on sites like fabfurnish and Jabong," said Kulpreet Kaur, co-founder of e-commerce website shoppirate.in.

There are big discounts avaialable on all major e-commerce sites.

Sites like BigBasket and Nykaa are going all out to attract customers for Holi shopping. To sweeten the deal, they are also offering sweets and namkeens along with exciting offers.

It's a win-win for all as shoppers can expect good discounts while e-commerce sites rake in profits.

Increasing customer engagement through social media is another strategy many companies have been trying successfully.

Last year, e-commerce giant Jabong introduced a Holi app which allowed users to upload pictures, share messages with friends and also receive Holi specific offers.

This year, Home Connect Developers is organising a contest where users can post their funniest Holi pictures and win a Rs.500 Flipkart voucher.

Colours attract people and most e-commerce sites are coming up with flashy-banners and great colourful home pages just to encourage customers to click through and buy.

Many e-commerce sites are also looking to enter a new market this year. Their foray into festival-specific products and services are what attracts the customers and make them check out on offers. For instance, sites like Snapdeal used Holi as an opportunity to enter the vertical of Holi supplies which have become hugely popular on their sites.
