Scorsese, De Niro, Jodie Foster set for 'Taxi Driver' reunion

London, Mar 21 (PTI) Robert De Niro and his "Taxi Driver" castmates are to reunite to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the cult classic at the Tribeca Film Festival.

Director Martin Scorsese will join De Niro, Jodie Foster, Albert Brooks, Leonard Harris, Peter Boyle, and Cybill Shepherd for a staged audience interview following a screening of the 1976 film on April 21.

The film was nominated for four Academy Awards, including best picture and best actor for De Niro, reported the New York Times.

"It's odd to think that four decades have passed since we shot Taxi Driver on the streets of a very different New York City," Scorsese said following the announcement of the cast reunion.

"It was made in a surge of energy... and I was working with an extraordinary group of artistic collaborators as anyone could ever hope for.

"Jodie, who was 13 years old at the time, and Bob (De Niro) gave the picture something precious, dangerous, and altogether remarkable. I'm honoured to take part in the celebration of the film's 40th anniversary at this year's Tribeca Film Festival."

Festival co-founder De Niro added, "It's a great honour for TFF to revisit Taxi Driver. I'm very proud to have worked on this film with Marty, Jodie, Harvey, Cybill, Paul, Michael and Julia, as well as the extraordinary cast and crew. I remain equally proud today.
