Jammu, March 20 (IANS) Strategic Jammu-Srinagar national highway remained closed for traffic for the second day on Sunday as landslides occurred at a number of places on the road.
"No traffic shall be allowed on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway on Sunday as it is raining heavily along many stretches of the road," a senior official of the traffic department told IANS here.
"Landslides were triggered by continuous rainfall at many places, especially in the Ramban district. Efforts are on to clear the blocked stretches of the highway, but traffic would be allowed only after weather stabilises," he added.
The over 300-km long highway is the only conduit for essential supplies to the landlocked Kashmir Valley.
