Chennai, March 19 (IANS) Writer-painter Neelima Kota is confident that National Award winning filmmaker Vetrimaaran will do full justice to the film adaptation of her book "Shoes of the Dead", which deals with farmer suicides.
"I never thought my book would ever be made into a film, even though I felt the issue of farmer suicides deserves to be told. And when finally Vetrimaaran decided to adapt it into a film, I was confident he will do full justice to it," Kota told IANS.
She was stunned when she saw Vetrimaaran's Tamil film "Visaaranai", about police brutality and abuse of power.
"It was a stunning film. He has the knack of telling a powerful story out of an issue from the vantage point of all the characters involved. He has ability to dissolve into the story and that's not an easy thing to do," she said.
Through the film, Kota believes the voices of the hapless farmers and their families will be finally heard.
Asked if she would co-write the film with Vetrimaaran, she said that it's too early to divulge any details regarding the project.
