Sensex closes 275 points higher

Mumbai, March 18 (IANS) A benchmark index of Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex), on Friday provisionally closed the day's trade higher by 275.37 points or 1.12 percent.

The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also provisionally closed trading in the green -- higher by 91.80 points or 1.22 percent -- at 7,604.35 points.

The BSE Sensex, which opened at 24,729.41 points, provisionally closed at 24,952.74 points (at 03.49 p.m.) -- up 275.37 points or 1.12 percent from the previous day's close at 24,677.37 points.

The Sensex touched a high of 24,986.94 points and a low of 24,681.64 points during the day's trade.
